Historical moment for the traditional company from Lübeck: The millionth Alcotest breathalyser has rolled off the production line

The first generation of electronic breath alcohol measuring devices came onto the market in the 1980s. In December 2019, Dräger produced its millionth measuring device. "We are proud that we have been able to make a contribution to more safety on the road and many other areas for decades." says Stefan Dräger, chairman of the board of Drägerwerk Verwaltungs AG.

In 2018, Dräger celebrated the 65th anniversary of breath alcohol measurement, as the medical and safety company developed the first Alcotest tubes as early as 1953. These enabled the police to detect breath alcohol in drivers for the first time. Today, the spectrum of alcohol testers ranges all the way to computer-controlled measuring devices that exclude external influences or manipulation when determining the breath alcohol concentration. The technology has changed over the years and the quality of the results, as well as the simplicity of use, has been continuously improved. The name Alcotest has stood for this for more than 65 years.
